Problem and Solution--Saving our pandas

As we all know that panda is called the national treasure of China. Actually, it is not only because panda only lives in China. More importantly, 30 years ago, the population of panda decreased in an amazing speed and almost died out. That is a very serious problem. Our human beings cannot lose such a lovely friend. Therefore, the Chinese Government came out with several solutions to solve this serious problem. First of all, the government built some animal care center for the limited number of pandas to live. In the animal care centers, there were specific persons who were just like the babysitters to take care of all these pandas. They will feed the pandas and took the medical check in a certain frequency. In addition, the government encouraged all the citizens to donate money to the animal hospital to help pandas to produce more babies. Moreover, the government stated in law to forbidden people hunt pandas. At that time, people who hunt pandas would be executed death penalty. Last but not least, in order to make all of the citizens know the importance of panda for China, the government used panda as the Mascot of the 1990 Asian Games. After the all these efforts made by the government, the population of panda now keeps in a certain degree.

Compare and Contrast--the recycling in big city and small city in China

With the development of the whole society, people pay more attention on the environmental and resources problem. In order to save our resources, especially the natural resources, we need to focus on recycling which is very helpful to saving resources. The situation in China now is all of the cities’ governments have some recycling policy. However, we still can see the similarity and difference between the big cities and small cities. Let me take Beijing and my hometown as an example. As we all know, Beijing, the capital of China, is a big city. My hometown, which is just next to Beijing, is a small city in comparison to Beijing (although it is much larger than Singapore). For the similarities, first of all, both of these two local governments have their recycling policies. They both encourage citizens to put the recycling garbage into the special dustbins. In addition, the governments will subsidize the shops which sell the stuff made by recycling resources. Meanwhile, the difference is also quite obvious. In Beijing, we can see different recycling dustbins for different categories of garbage. Therefore, it is much easier for the technical people to recycle the garbage and won’t waste too much. But in my city, the government only offers one single type of dustbin for recycling. As a result, citizens will drop all kinds of recycling garbage into one dustbin. It is really a waste of resources!!

Paragraph1--Cause and effect

This year, 2008, people focus more on Beijing because of the coming Olympic Games. People not concern about the rate of process of all the facilities, but also care about the air quality in Beijing. The air quality in Beijing keeps going down during the past few years. The main cause for the problem is the number of private cars keeps going up. As the number of cars increases, the exhaust gas from the cars increases exponentially. Therefore, this is the main factor of air pollution in Beijing. Since cause is already very obvious, what is the effect then? Because most of the games are outdoor games in Olympics, so the low quality air is bad for all the athletes’ health. Moreover, the audiences will also suffer a lot form the dirty air. Before Beijing was selected to be the host for 2008 Olympics Games, the Beijing government’s slogan is “let’s try our very best to make the 2008 Olympics become a Green Olympics.” Hence, the Beijing government should really try his very best to improve the air quality in Beijing. Let’s step by step to improve the air quality. Let’s hand in hand to hold a green Olympic Games.

Happy New Year~

Parties, big dinners, K-box…that’s all I did during the Chinese New Year.
This is my third Chinese New Year in Singapore. As usual, all my friends from the same town get together. For the Chinese New Year Eve, we made 88 dumplings together. Although all the dumplings are in different shapes since we are not professional enough. After the big dinner, we used the online-tv software to connect to the CCTV-1 channel to watch the Evening of Spring Festival which has 1 billion audiences at the New Year Eve.
On the first day of the New Year, we had nothing much to do but eating. In the evening, I felt that this kind of life is too bad for health. Then we went to Chinatown in stead of stay in hostel. We were very lucky at that night. We saw the colorful fireworks along the Singapore River.
